Leaders Kick-Off Commission to Engage African-Americans on Climate Change

Experts on energy and the environment on July 29, 2008, announced the creation of the Commission to Engage African Americans on Climate Change (CEAC). They cited deep concerns about the effects of climate change on the African American community. The Commission will work with African Americans and others to understand the impact that climate change has on their communities, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to ensure that energy policies are fair to all Americans. read article

August Tonnage Rises 2.6%

Truck tonnage rose 2.6% in August from a year earlier, but fell 1.6% from July — the biggest month-to-month decline since March, according to American Trucking Associations.

be enough fuel to fill up their tanks when

they get there because of reports of

hundreds of stations that have closed

because of shortages in the wake of

Hurricane Ike.

The Demarche Alliance Inc. is a non-profit organization focused on increasing the presence of minority-owned businesses in the transportation industry and raising awareness of transportation related issues involving minority communities.

Demarche and the Purple Line

The Purple Line is a proposed 16-mile rapid transit line extending from Bethesda in Montgomery County to New Carrollton in Prince George's County. This is the most important project in the Washington, DC area, and community input is vital. Please learn more about the Purple Line here
